第一句主体是主谓宾,主语是the boss,谓语是promised,宾语是双定语后置的名词.a rise是宾语,in pay是后置的定语,正序应该是in pay的rise,即收入上的提高,而to the young man是pay的后置定语,即to the young man 的 pay.

第二句有点小歧义,我不是很确定.
主体也是主谓宾,主语是护士,谓语是读,宾语是那本小说的一章节.“给我”是补语,“每天”是状语.
主体是主谓结构,主语是护士,谓语是读（因为读可以做及物动词也可以做不及物动词,这里做不及物动词解）,后面的三部分都做补语和状语.跟这个相同的比如说“我跑在路上”.那么就是一个主谓短句,“我跑”,“在路上”是补语.
我个人比较倾向第一种解释.

promised to ：向某人承诺；a rise in ：在某一方面提高。
