2.It is probable to rain today.这个句子是错的 应把probable改为likely .书上说probable做表语时不用“人”做主语.但是上面那个句子主语不是it么?也不是人做主语啊!糊涂中.

第一个 你给的例句 应该说成 The output of this year is 3 times the amount of the output of 2008 或者用其他的比较级的结构
至于有没有你说的那种说法,我不敢肯定,反正之前没见过有外国人这么说~
第二个是这样的 probable是可能的意思 如果你要用这个词 必须是 什么什么是可能的
比如 “今天下雨”是可能的：that it is rain today is probable
就是说 不能说 一个东西或者一个人是可能的 得说一件事情 或者发生一个动作是可能的
likely 就和probable相反 likely翻译成“可能” 其实就是似乎 好像 大概的意思 但是比这些词的肯定程度都打 就是一个东西或者一个人很可能怎么样了~
likely和probable的区别是我个人看法,其实意思上区别不是很大,关键在于怎么用,至于怎么用这得靠积累,见过了就知道什么情况下用什么了,就是老外用词习惯的问题.
1. be看主语没错，但在这种句型中，你也清楚，多表数目关系，所以主语基本都是the number of..., the population of..., the speed of... 所以很少出现those
2. sth. is probable
it is likely...
没啥复杂的，句型弄熟就不会用错
